CURRENT RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS
- Founder and Medical Director of The Joint Preservation Center (JPC)
- The JPC is instrumental in forming and promoting knee joint health offering patients options of treatment that may or may not include knee replacement.
- Of importance, the JPC is interested in the Carticel procedure. It is one of a few Centers of Excellence in the USA as designated by The Genzyme Corporation. The JPC is a referral center and does the complicated operative procedures of Carticel. (Articular Cartilage is harvested from the patient, grown and cultured in a special laboratory to increase the chondrocyte numbers, and then the cells are re-implanted into the patient’s knee to fill joint surface defects thereby preserving the joint function and decreasing the chance of future arthritis.)
- Medical Director of multiple seminars sponsored by Genzyme specifically to promote and teach the Carticel procedure to physicians and ancillary personnel
- Currently on the National Speaking Board representing Genzyme Corporation speaking on behalf of the Carticel procedure.
